DANCE WEEKLY (1 July 2008) HAPPY BIRTHDAY ----------------------------------------- THIS WEEKEND Spend July 4th in Downtown Here is the link to the map of the event. The dance floor is on the X of the blue area - it's also Lost kids area too so the best parking is at the (if that URL breaks or will not open, use this one shortened by Tiny URL which will get you to the same place. http://tinyurl.com/43dldc -=------------------------------------------------------ No more couple lessons on Saturday at Wild Bill’s - Come out early and start dancing immediately (See below) With change comes change so no more shutting down the main dance floor at 10:15 on Wednesday and there will be no band on Wednesday either. --------------------------------------------- Every INSTRUCTOR on our Dance Instructors list has been sent what currently is posted on the www.atlantadanceweekly.comweb site showing the classes we know about. So far we have gotten less than half to respond with either an updated class schedule or acknowledged the existing listing is correct. If you’re an instructor and your class is not listed, please send in the info and we will list it… This is for ALL kinds of dance classes. If your classes are listed, please take a few minutes to look and update your listing. These classes make money for YOU and not me so keeping them current is for your wallet and benefit. ------------------------------------------------------ Lots of folks would like to thank Bill Robinson and everyone who worked at the Atlanta All-Star Swing Fling this past weekend in *********************************************************************************************** THIS WEEK FOR THE "DANCE BUNCH" : The Dance Bunch plans to be at WILD BILL's in force again this Wednesday and Saturday. Wild Bill's will have line dance lessons on Wednesday with Rose and Debbie however the couples class on Saturday have been discontinued. The floor is now wide open from 7 PM on so Come on out!! Doors open (give or take) at 7 PM and lessons get underway about 7:10 - 7:15 on Wednesdays. Doors open at 6:30 PM on Saturday with lessons immediately following opening up.. Music following the lessons will be a mix of couple and line dance. Remember if you get there before 8 PM with a DANCERS CARD, you can get in for $5. If you need one of these cards, see Rose Haven. Dancers going to Wild Bill's on Saturday nights, should plan to get there around 7-7:30 range if you want a table close to the floor. It is not at all crowded and a great time to have some open floor time to practice what you learned on Wednesday or where ever you take dance lessons. If you come early please do not be shy about coming out on the dance floor and learning the dances. (Line Dancers… REMEMBER to keep the dance lane open along the "outside" of the floor for the couple dancers AND if there is someone on the edge trying to learn the dance ask them to pull into the middle so there is room to keep the couple dancers lane open). ALSO PLEASE do not bring drinks out on the floor… Almost everyone is willing to call the steps or point the direction of travel in an effort to assist you in learning the various dances. Remember some just cannot be picked up at full speed, but a lot of the one's done on a regular basis are not difficult and you will get these with a little help. A few reminders for dancers at Wild Bill’s: NEW on Wednesdays (Ladies Night): The main dance area is now remaining OPEN all night! Line dance lessons as usual from 7:15 to 8:15 PM, then GREAT dance music by DJ Dwight for the rest of the night on the main dance floor. There’s a great variety of music for couple’s and line dancers. The Crown Lounge will still be open as well (pool tables, TV’s, drinks, and the RK Café is open for meals and snacks). Continue to enter and leave Wild Bill’s from the Crown Lounge Doors (down the sidewalk and to the left of the main doors). Couple’s Lessons at Wild Bill’s on Saturdays, are discontinued for now. This Tuesday will be our last West Coast Swing lesson, this time through, so don't miss picking up a couple of new moves for the coming 4th weekend. Hope you'll join us. An Update: About a year ago we reported some devastating info about a young ballet dancer (4 years old), Kennedy Grace, that had contracted a serious disease. Well, we would like to report that the young lady has been undergoing chemotherapy and is handling it marvelously. Her Mom reports her height and weight are in line with where it should be and she is swimming like a fish. Let's keep her in our thoughts and prayers for a full recovery and be thankful for the simple things of life.
