8 PM to 11 PM - Join us for non-stop line (and a little couple) dancing of both old and new dances. Many of the dances you do not know can easily be picked up on the floor. It is a very friendly crowd with everyone more than willing to make you feel comfortable and help with the dances and cost is only $5. This is a tile floor, so wear shoes accordingly as it does not slide like a wood one does. Lynn Bailey has a list at the front so it is your opportunity to requested old and favorite ones, (bring the music if you have it just in case).

The dance area is SMOKE FREE. There is a bar and you can purchase drinks at the Moose.

Have you always wanted to learn the Balboa? The dance of the fast fancy feet. Need a refresher course on your basic? Now's your chance! Russ Ruddell and F.G. Courtney are well known swing dance instructors in Atlanta, and are going to be teaching a Balboa Workshop that you don't what to miss! So, come join us as we learn one of the most fun and coolest dances out there!

A short history of Balboa
The Balboa originated in Southern California in the 1930's, at a placed called Balboa Inland. The dance started out as a closed position only dance, which is called Pure Balboa. This was due to the small amount of dance floor space available to each couple. Then, later on, people started doing breakaway moves, where they separated from each other. This was called Bal-Swing.

Balboa is an elegant dance, yet it still shares the excitement and energy of other swing dances. The dance is a versatile and flexible partner dance. It is primarily danced to fast music, but can be danced to a wide range of music types, tempos, and speeds.

Guys wear slippery shoes and girls wear comfortable heels (not high heels).

Balboa I (11:00am-12:00pm)
This class will cover the basic fundamentals of connection and technique of Balboa. You will learn the basics of Pure Balboa.
Lunch (12:00pm-1:00)

Balboa II (1:00pm-2:00pm)
We continue with our journey in Pure Balboa, and build on the base started in the previous class to put a little depth to it. We will also talk about how to make things smoother, and a little bit about picking up the pace for faster music.

Balboa III (2:00pm-3:00pm)
Now that we know Pure Bal, we move on to Bal-Swing, which is danced in open position. The fundamentals of Bal-Swing connection and technique will be covered, along with moving back and forth between Pure Bal and Bal-Swing. We will also talk more about the flow of the dance, and how to make it smoother.

Balboa IV (3:00pm-4:00pm)
In this class, we will take what we've learned from the other classes, plus some new from this class, and work on putting it all together.

Location: Sawnee Mtn Park 3995 Watson Road, Cumming, Ga. 30028.
Time is from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. (or later).
Cost is a $5 per person cover charge. Dances offered include West Coast Swing, Shag, East Coast Swing, Hustle, Cha-Cha, Night Club 2-Step, Waltz, Electric Slide, etc.
Forsyth County Park system may provide a free beginners dance lesson prior to the dance. The dance lesson would vary from week to week. They expect a decision shortly regarding the dance lessons.
